As we know, Chrysler is currently the only brand from the Stellantis group, which was left with only one model: The minivan Pacifica, which was released in 2017 and it's still available. What would happen if the American car manufacturer decided one day to produce more models?
In the past, Chrysler had two SUVs in its lineup: The mid-sized crossover Pacifica, produced between 2003 and 2007 and the Aspen, a full-sized SUV based on the Dodge Durango and produced between 2007 and 2009. But during those years, people weren't interested in SUVs, so both of them got axed.
And the main question is: What would happen if Chrysler had a crossover in its current lineup? For sure, it would be a premium crossover with spacious interior. In order to reduce the manufacturing cost, this new SUV would be based on models from other Stellantis premium brands, such as DS and Lancia. The most suitable model for that is the all-new DS N°7 premium crossover, which got unveiled very recently.
This model will never make it by itself to the other side of the Atlantic, so Chrysler has to accomplish this mission by re-badging and completely redesigning the new N°7, in order to comply with the US-market standards. The "re-badging & redesigning" technique is oftenly applied by GM and its brands (Chevy, Buick, GMC and more) on their SUVs, in order to distinguish them, according to the buyer group that they're targeting to. This thing could help Chrysler make new models in more categories (such as sedans, hatchbacks and more), without having to create them from the scratch.
As for the model's name, Pacifica would be the most correct answer, as in terms of size it would be the successor of the old Pacifica crossover from 00s, but that name got already given to brand's large minivan. So, I decided to name it Aspen (from the old biggest SUV), despite the fact that the new model is one category lower in terms of size.
